Professional Biofeedback Training & Consultation
Practioners/Professionals
The study of biofeedback can be an exciting learning adventure and can prepare you to bring a valuable mind-body treatment to your practice. You may wish to start with the didactic training course offered by Dr. DeBease through Widener University ( approved by the American Psychological Association to offer 45 continuing education credits for psychologists ). Practical skill training is available in person or through distance learning using web on-line interfacing. Equipment rental for 3 months can be arranged. Dr. DeBease is an approved BCIA mentor in both general and EEG biofeedback and can assist you in BCIA exam preparation.
Teachers
If you'd like to teach a course in biofeedback that follows BCIA recommended course curriculum, you can purchase the Powerpoint slides developed by Dr. DeBease for her course at Widener University . You may purchase the Powerpoint CD with or without an audio lecture and both versions come with a complete set of lecture notes that will guide you with each slide you present.
Institutions/Organization
Dr. DeBease is available to train, teach and present at your location. She has been a guest speaker at business presentations, on the radio, and at many conferences advancing the notions of peak performance, stress management and the body-to-mind connection.
Students
You can arrange an independent study through your school and obtain access to Widener University's self-directed on-line course in biofeedback . This course meets the BCIA didactic requirement called the Blueprint of Knowledge.
Didactic Training Course
Widener University's On-line Psychophysiology & Biofeedback Course
Dr. DeBease teaches the BCIA required Blueprint of Knowledge through Widener University 's on-line program. This is a completely self-directed course that you have one year to complete. Go to www.widener.edu/biofeedback for more information.
Widener University 's Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer 45 continuing education credits for psychologists upon the satisfactory completion of this course . This course is approved by BCIA to offer 48 hours in General Biofeedback.
Practical Skills Training
Distance and/or face-to-face skills training in biofeedback is provided in the following modalities: sEMG, Peripheral Temperature, Skin Conductane, Heart Rate Variablity, Respiration, and EEG-neurofeedback. On-line training is provided through the use of remote desktop sharing software
On-Site Training - workshops for health professionals that want to learn how to use psychophysiological methods and biofeedback training. Morning sessions involve a didactic lecture. In the afternoon, participants are given hand-on training. This 1-day workshop is a basic introduction to biofeedback and psychophysiological interventions in a therapeutic setting.
BCIA Exam Preparation - tutoring and test prep review for the BCIA exam in General or EEG biofeedback.
Psychophysiology and BCIA Preparatory Powerpoint Slides - This course material is designed to meet the didactic requirements for BCIA (Biofeedback Certification Institute of America) certification in general biofeedback. The course content includes 10 lectures (can order as PowerPoint with or without audio). Each lecture has a quiz to make sure your students understanding of the material.
The audio Powerpoint is a lecture and not just an audio reading of the slides. Some instructors may wish to "share" the teaching; teaching one lecture by themselves and then allowing the audio Powerpoint to teach one.

1. History-Concepts-Learning - This first lecture entitled "Biofeedback Psychophysiological Training" covers the elements in the BCIA blueprint in under section I Orientation to Biofeedback. The lecture answers "what is biofeedback and what is psychophysiology" and covers applied psychophysiology, including a history of psychophysiology, cybernetic and learning theory and biofeedback, definitions of biofeedback, a history of biofeedback, clinical applications of biofeedback training, the history of EMG and EEG biofeedback, important research studies, popular biofeedback techniques, feedback schedules, efficacy, biofeedback and the mind-body movement, and complimentary alternative medicine.
